How to find motivation in times of crisis

When you live a time of crisis like the present, some expert analysis say that of the 40% drop in profitability is because the staff is worn as the crisis affects not only you people in the workplace but also in his personal life, in the economic, psychological, social and even physically, the other 60% drop corresponds to the recession and dampening sales.

We are at a stage in our economic life where it is necessary not only have all our economic resources, infrastructure and machinery in good condition, but with all our convictions to deal with the crisis and the competition that becomes stronger and difficult. If we want to be in the economic market we must get our best effort and this will only happen if our staff is motivated. We talk a lot of motivation as a tool to achieve this goal and very little is done; it’s time to think again and get moving this tool to benefit our company.

In times of crisis should be made several changes but will only be possible to make them successful if our human resources are adapted to the crisis.

When we speak of motivation we refer to the attitude of the manager, officer or manager for its employees so that they not only work exactly meet their obligations but identify with the company and give their best effort. The company that achieves the objective of maintaining the human group with a low stress level improve their productivity and profitability, also the company is better positioned than its competitors then the company will have its social function.

Types of Motivators

We know that a prime motivator is money, we make an analysis to determine if the compensation that we pay to our employees is agree with   the labor market if it does not pay up we have to increase the remuneration and if it is not possible at the moment, it is important to speak with our staff and let them know our desire to improve their remuneration in the future.

Job security is another important reason, we must reassure our employees at work and if we want to fire one because he has personal problems we have to think that the personal problems have increased in all our employees and the phrase “Nobody is indispensable in a company, but all are important “applies more now. So, before to fire an employee we have to think about it and to realize that it will not be easy to cover his position quickly and to find another employee with the same capacity and work as well or better than the previous employee. Even if we need to cancel one position in our company, we can move our employee to another department, so we are not only giving opportunity to him to work in other department but also making all our employees see we do not want to loose any employee keeping everyone in the company.

Career opportunities within the company, this motivator is essential because when a person works in the company, he does not want to just be a temporary job but to take the company as his second home and a place to make a career. Of this way, we assure our personal identification with our company, therefore we must create work career opportunities within the company so our staff can grow up taking career positions.

Listening employee’s suggestions and giving them a share of our plans, is an excellent motivator because they will feel part of our company and they will be identified with it doing their best effort.

Thanking the participation of our staff for the ideas and suggestions hat they did in front of everyone, not only means a lot to the person targeted by the appreciation but also for other employees to wish to make their contributions to the company.

Congratulate performance’s employee in front the others will encourage the others to do a better job.

Assigning new responsibilities because we believe in their capacities and promoting teamwork are some motivators to use.

In conclusion, we must follow these motivators in a creative way and we have to treat all our employees without differences.
